For those gamers out there in this sub looking for something to scratch their space sim itch in anticipation of a few upcoming games in the genre, I'd like to recommend a hidden gem in the steam store called Evochron legacy. This game has came out recently and is the latest iteration of the Evochron series. You can do about pretty much anything from realistic combat with newtonian physics, to trading, mining, factional Warfare, and exploring a large universe with about thirty charted solar systems and many uncharted systems. The graphics are a little retro and aren't all great, but mods can take care of that. The amount of content in this game makes up for the lackluster visuals. The content of this game is pretty impressive and it runs suprisingly well on very low-end pc's, my crappy 5 year old laptop runs it smoothly.
If you love free roam space sims and don't have a godlike pc for Star Citizen, you may want to give this game a shot. It's around $25 on steam, and the game's website has a free demo. The game can be played offline, or on public multiplayer supporting around 35 players per server. This game was created by One Man! I find this very suprising because the amount of content in this game nearly puts Elite Dangerous to shame. This is an underrated Indie title that's deserving of support.Edit: Oh, i forgot.
While 'The 7th Guest' was a computer game marvel upon its initial release with its graphics, game length, etc. Younger game enthusiasts may be somewhat disappointed with the 'action' by comparison of today's computer graphic abilities. The game, however, still gives that overall 'creepy' feeling while playing, and many of the puzzles will keep. The mansion of horror comes to life again and only you can end this mad nightmare and learn the secret of the 7th guest. The game features: - Groundbreaking use of full-motion video and dialogue recorded by live actors in a terrifyingly virtual environment. Bizarre puzzles to solve and games.
You can build space stations too. I've never played x3 myself so I couldnt tell you. Trading is based on simple supply and demand. The economy can differ between servers based on how the other players trade.Edit: When you manufacturer at stations, you use blueprints that you either scavenge during your travels or buy from npc's. These blueprints give you recepies to follow in a minecraft esque 'arrange each component in a particular order' crafting system(but a little more complicated).I haven't explored station building too much but from what I hear, they are used In factional warfare or to lay claim to uncharted systems you visited, or provide yourself with a home base.Did I answer your question?. Evochron Legacy has factional warfare.
The Alliance and the Federation are constantly at war with each other. Every system in the Quadrant is up for grabs. You can choose your faction affiliation fight to control systems, station building also plays a part in this as well. The vonari are still around in this game, you can find them at the warzones. The economy is dynamic this time around so the economic needs of each system will change according to the players buying and selling habits. The economy and factional warfare give you more of an incentive to play on multiplayer rather than just solo, the collective actions of players make a difference in Legacy unlike Mercenary. The contracts have more variety than in Mercenary, there are missions where you defend cities from falling asteriods, capture wildlife specimens, etc.
More ships have been added, ship customization is better this time. The planets are much larger, as well as the game space. It looks exactly like mercenary as far as the visuals and UI goes, but this game has a lot more when you look under its hood. Its a big step up from the previous game, not a retextured remake.
Evochron is on the easier/casual end of the scale, and is certainly far easier to get a handle on than something like X3. The series started way back as shareware Wing Commander style combat sims, with trading and exploration added in later, so it does largely stick to its roots in terms of being relatively easy to pilot.
And theres glitch that once you collect a bunch of money from being gone a while after an add it will give you the same amount as u got before.' There are a lot of adds but all I have to do is turn off the I internet. ,910000000,113,null,null,'3','E-tod Longhair',null,null,2,null,null,null,'Mitchell',null,2,null,null,null,'to Google Games is broken. Idle balls hack.
Plus it contains a decent tutorial covering the basics of navigation and such.Without going back in time to something like Privateer, it's probably among the easiest of this style of game to learn. (But there's always going to be some learning curve in a game like this.)The most interesting element is that it contains two flight modes. The game uses Newtonian physics, so there's a pure Newtonian mode. Or, clicking a button goes into a hybrid Star Warsish mode where the ship's computer does a lot of work giving the illusion of an arcadey flight model.
This is sort-of 'easy mode,' but in practice, a good pilot probably flips between them depending on situation.
