If you really care about accuracy, no.Ignore the item level and color: look at the other stats. If you're a fire damage build, for instance, that 15 might be multiplied many times by your fire damage bonus. Or the lower level weapon attacks faster, has an attack speed bonus, has a particular bonus for a damage type your left-click attack uses a lot of, etc. Then if you really want to have an idea about DPS you need to take into account your resist reduction. If a weapon has 10% more DPS but it only deals damage in a type that your -50% resist reduction doesn't help you're losing actual DPS, right? TBH it doesn't matter that much in the end. While leveling, there will be some minor comparisons.Though as you get better, rarer gear, it becomes rather obvious what is an upgrade. For example if all your points are in shadow strike with poison damage, then is going to perform better than other options. In other words, as your build becomes more customized, the 'optimal' gear tends to naturally set itself apart. There are not too many builds which require rolled green weapons, which is the one scenario where you would really need to start analyzing what the weapon is adding.

It's most accurate for builds utilizing Default Weapon attacks. For everything else you should only use it in the greatest of nitpicks.Especially, as others have said, as soon as Skill Mods become a greater part of your build. Or sets.I kinda use it more as an indicator than a guideline.I recently changed Boots, and despite a decrease of about 30k DPS I feel like I get through content easier. The corporate machine guide. Maybe it's the proc-ability, more crits, etc.And that's after considering that some stats are not directly calculated into the +x DPS display.Like '+1 to all skills' might in an instance outweigh 2-3k DPS if it increases your main ability.I usually prefer to check the raw damage numbers on the second site of my character sheet or check the DPS of my LMB and RMB Abilities by hovering over the DPS display.

I have over 500 hours on diablo 3 and more than double that on PoE. I’ve heard a little bit about this game and it has a very cheap to price so it is downloading right now.

I want to play this game to take a break from all the trading in PoE. I really really really want to love this game and put a lot of time into it. Could somebody please recommend a build for a new player (but veteran arpg player) that will really hook me and show me what Grim Dawn is all about? I’ve played every build imaginable in ARPGs and I really do like them all, but I think for my first character I’d like it to be ranged or magic, I’m not interested in playing a summoner right now. If there is a really fun and unique melee build then by all means, tell me! I know you’re going to tell me to look at the Grim Dawn Compendium, but I’ve already checked it out! I would just like some suggestions from fellow redditors!

I'm assuming you bought AoM too.If you are an ARPG Veteran, my suggestion is to play a Vitality caster, either as Cabalist (Occultist + Necro) or Ritualist (Shaman + Necro), or a Lightning caster as Vindicator (Inquisitor + Shaman). And don't look at a build guide, just give it your best shot. And play blind hardcore.

That's probably the best first play experience.Alternately, you might try a very flashy build - explosions all over the screen. A Purifier with dual pistols is one way. A Sorcerer using Blackwater cocktail is another way. Both of those work well with self-found gear.If you are following a build guide, try to avoid builds that use a lot of damage conversion from gear. (Conversion from the skill transmuter is fine.) Those usually can't be done as a first character because you just won't be able to get enough of the pieces you need. The isle map. Also don't try Drain Essence on a first character - the other channeling skills are not as gear dependent.Respecs are more freely available in GD than PoE. You can't really break anything beyond repair.
