This tool is for model railroaders, doll house modelers, and anyone who scratch builds models.For years I've broken #11 Xacto blades trying to cut door and window openings in sheet styrene. It's the only way I knew to cut them. But I was aware of a nibbling tool.
I thought I knew what it did but was too cheap to spend the money to try it.Finally I had a little extra cash and found out that the price on Amazon was WAY less than I though I'd have to spend. I ordered it and now wish that I hadn't waited so long.The tool is easy to use, and is such a time saver it's incredible. You simply mark the styrene for the window or door location in pencil or pen. Drill a hole in the styrene that's about. I am a professional carpenter/remodeler and have done some metal roofs before, but never one with hips and valleys. This was the first metal nibbler I have owned, so I can't compare it to others, but it worked well on the first job. I bought it for the price, but the quality has been beyond my expectations.
I used it cutting metal roofing sheets on angles for hips and valleys. It sometimes gets hung up in the ridges of the sheet, but some of that may be the operator. It cuts straight and fast. I am well satisfied. A very good product for the money.
These shears are heavy duty and appear to be well built. I used them for installing 29 gauge metal roofing on a barn. The shears worked great for ripping the 12' long sheets for correct final panel width. Cross cutting the corregations isn't as easy but that's not the shears fault it's just the geometry of the metal roofing that makes it difficult. Buy these and don't think twice about it. I got mine through Amazon's Warehouse deals not wanting to spend a lot for a one project tool.
